森俊山MORI SHUNZAN

京焼に大きな影響を与えた尾形乾山
その素朴な絵付の美と土味を、身近な器に

市中にありながら深山幽谷の趣がある皇室ゆかりの寺、泉涌寺。そのふもとの一帯には多くの窯元が軒を並べている。「森俊山」は約100年に渡って京焼の伝統を受け継いできた窯。特に、京焼を代表する17世紀の陶工、尾形乾山の作風を反映した器を幅広いアイテムで展開する。火ムラのある土肌に鮮やかな絵付が京らしい風情を漂わせる。

Sennyu Temple, noted for its connection with the Japanese Imperial Family, has an atmosphere of deep mountains and dark valleys despite its urban location. Many potteries have been built side by side around the base of the mountain there. Mori Shunzan, one of these potteries, has maintained traditional Kyoto ware techniques for over 100 years, and produces a wide variety of items that reflect the style of Ogata Kenzan, a master of Kyoto ware in the 17th century. Bright pictures drawn on the unevenly burnt clay surface give a sense of refined elegance.
