今尾古今堂IMAO KOKONDO
紙と布で作られる日本のインテリア、屏風
美しい布を選んで世界に一つのデザインを
木の枠に紙を張り合わせて作る襖や障子、絵画作品を布で裏打ちして掛け物にする表装。紙や布から作られた伝統的なインテリアが表具と呼ばれる。表具師の工房、「今尾古今堂」はオーダーメイドでひとつひとつ表具を仕立てている。「小袖屏風」は屏風に布を張って装飾にしたもの。好きな布を持ちこめば、世界に一つの屏風ができる。
Japanese folding screens: paper and material Japanese interiors. You can choose the most beautiful cloth for a completely unique design.
Sliding doors and wall panels made by stretching paper over wooden frames and mountings for hanging paintings lined with silk. Such traditional paper and wood interiors are called Hyogu. At the Kokondo Studio of the Hyogu master Imao, Hyogu are made individually to order. A “Kosode Byobu” is an ornamental folding screen which has been covered in cloth and features kimono designs. If you provide us with your favourite material, we can create a design that is utterly unique to you.
この小袖屏風は３つの連作の一つ。折りたたんで収納できる。This “Kosode Byobu” is one in a series of three. It can be folded away for storing.

刷毛を使って紙や布を貼り合わせてゆく表具つくりの作業。
糊をつける、そして接着した面をならすためにも様々な刷毛を駆使する。
Using a brush, the paper is applied to the material.
Adhesive is then applied and several different brushes are used to make it smooth.
